Quote of the Week 11/3/2011

This week’s quote is inspirational one, from one of the strongest women in history, Harriet Tubman. If you are not familiar with her story, it is a remarkable example of strength and faith against all odds.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer, Always remember you have with you the strength, the patience and passion to reach for the stars and change the world.”

Wow! In these tough times we all need to stay inspired. Harriet Tubman was born a slave and was even a human scarecrow as a child and grew up to be an abolitionist and humanitarian. Deemed “The Moses of  Her People”, She rescued slaves and was even a spy for the Union Army during the American Civil War. Her dreams of freedom and a better life were reached with hard work and faith.

So keep the faith People!

Quotes of the Week 10/20/11

This week’s quote comes from Pop sensation Lady Gaga. She has always striked me as quite interesting and beneath it all she has an awesome story.

“Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you’re wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn’t love you anymore.”

Whoa! This quote is quite empowering. Women often feel like they have to make the choice between their careers and their families. I believe that you can do both but following your dreams and taking care of yourself always should come first. At the young age of 25, Lady Gaga has reached great success in her career without a man. I truly do believe you can do anything you put your mind to and believing that is the only choice worth making.

Quote of the Week 10/13/11

This week’s Thursday quote comes from the famous Greek Philosopher Aristotle. Student to Plato and teacher to Alexander the Great, Aristotle was far ahead of his time.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

This is one of my favorite Aristotle quotes. We are what we repeatedly do. So ask yourself what are your habits? Often people harp on the one thing that they have done or need to do, but that does not make up who you truly are.  It’s those everyday decisions that really count the most.

So live how you strive to be, and you are.

Quote of  the Week 10/6/11

In the memory of the late great Steve Jobs, who just past away yesterday. This week’s quote is from his 2005 Standford University commencement speech, wise words.

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

The power truly is within all of us. Trusting in ourselves is the key to real success and joy.

Quote of the Week 9/29/11

Happy Thursday Everyone. This week’s quote is one of my faves!

Life is like a rainbow, you need both the Sun and Rain to make its color appear”

Yes, life is often compared to the weather and righfully so. The sun doesn’t always shine but through it all, it is the rain that makes the journey that much sweeter.

So be the rainbows that you are people!

Quote of the Week – 9/22/11

In the spirit of knowledge and creating change, the very pillars of  Getmobetter, I will be having a new quote up every week. I have recommitted myself to this blog and I look forward to dropping a new quote every week. My original idea was to drop a quote every Wednesday. Wednesday also know as ‘hump day’ is a perfect day for a good ol’ quote to inspire the masses to get through the rest of the week. However, I have decided on Thursday. Just as important as other days, Thursday’s glory has always been taken by Friday. Everyone knows Thursday for being the day before Friday but Thursday is not loved as much. It’s like Friday is Marcia Brady and Thursday is Jan Brady. Jan was always my favorite, so here we go!

“Flying is simple, not hitting the ground is hard.”

Fresh out the cracks of a fortune cookie. This quote speaks volumes. Just like flying, In life there will always be highs and lows, however not hitting the ground is key. I try to always smile, even through the hard times.

So fly on people & don’t hit the ground!
